Now my two sisters have a few sprogs between them, they have asked me if we can restart the family tradition of having a bonfire night on the farm.......

I am lucky with some of the things I’ve done, and I hope that continues. I, along with my father, have done, what was for us, some fairly sizeable jobs on nature reserves over the years. I often used joke with a pal, when he phoned me, and I was in the digger, “what you up to?” He says, “oh, nothing much.....just changing the face of the planet” I’d say... a bold exaggeration, but in my own little way it’s true. If nobody digs up our creations, then I’d like to think that evidence of our work would be there in a hundred years time....

And anything I make in the workshop is usually made from steel of sufficient thickness and strength that it will survive an apocalypse....

So if I’m lucky, then i hope I’ve left something somewhere that says I was here.......
