I was plodging thought the mud carrying a bucket of sheep nuts, a pot of bright green raddle with a stick in it for late mixing, and an old broomstick (stop that thought!) to help with stability. I rounded a corner a bit too fast and went flying into the trough I have for watering the polytunnel which contains various forms of animal deposits, well stirred. The raddle landed down my front but the bucket of nuts remained completely upright - did not spill one. So I stopped doing the crawl in the trough (going through the motions?) and sloshed up to feed the sheep, the raddle could wait.
I did not think about where the mixing stick had gone until I arrived back in the yard and someone called and asked what was that in my hair...
This green stinky woman, dripping a variety of effluent, and they asked about my hair? Did make me smile!

Thats the trouble with old broomsticks, cant be relied on! Take it into their heads to go for a quick flit at any time, they do!

Get a box up quick. They really are majestic birds.
i spoke to guy who walks his dog down here who is nature lover when i first saw it and he turned up with a box the next day but the only shed we have that has a opening in has a sodium light on in there at night its not that bright at the far end where its open and there is some kind of hawk that sits on the rafter,I f i put the box on the gable end towards the apex and hung a sheet of ply on the next frame 15ft away the box would not be light up so much would this work?

I see no reason why not. We are very lucky here with 3 pairs that have bred again this year. The most prolific pair are in a stone barn adjacent to a 30tph Svegma drier which the fan exhaust points towards (its noisy!), yet they reared 3 chicks despite the noise and light disturbance during harvest. I think if food is plentiful, they will adapt to the environment, and I doubt the light would worry them, although the resident raptor might be an issue!

Plodging is a useful sounding word. Very descriptive, I may never have heard it before but it fits the scenario
perfectly. Oxford dictionary will no doubt soon have it added.

A wry smile, and moment to ponder, this morning, when I picked this tile up to find the hand print of the lad/lass that made it! I always look and think, ‘I wonder who they were’, when I see something hand made and with a personal touch like this, there’s a life story behind every little thing like that thats been hand made.
No idea how old they are, possibly hundred years?
Some tiles that I’m using here are much older than that, and it’s surprising how many have an impression in them, left by the maker, many moons ago. View attachment 596384
I seen Grand Designs house of the year on CH4 last night and it featured peg tiles being made, everyone has a hand print on the back as part of the process.
the house they went on was ghastly though!!
