While rummaging about, I found a copy of the Daily Express from April 1900. One snippet made me smile:

A woman was up in court for stealing a can of peaches, The Judge asked her, "how many peaches were in the can?" She said "six your honour" The Judge said "well i am going to make an example of you, I sentence you to a month in prison for every peach that was in the can" Then suddenly from the back of the courtroom her husband stood up and shouted "Excuse me your honour, ...she stole a tin of peas as well!"

The young dog had his very own "small - far away" moment when lambs were being wormed in the highest field to have any view.
He sat bolt upright, ears cocked, watching the dairy herd grazing on a farm that's around two miles away with great attention.
You could almost hear him trying to figure out how to manage an outrun on those piebald sheep over there.
