That's probably UK agriculture's biggest problem.Tried telling OH re possible dangers of cutting open dumpy bags of fert after reading various horror accounts but just got shot down in flames. I did try, so yet another 'how to improve farm safety ' conundrum.. how to tell those that won't listen?
This case involved a death and £7000 costs. The worker put a screwdriver across the solenoid to start it and it ran him over. The fault was reported 4 days before.Ok here’s a question for those reading this thread. Mentioned to boss a couple of times over the last couple of years “can we get those trailer brakes looked at?” 12t grain/silage/muck trailers. Two need adjusting up they make little difference to you stopping. One has no return springs as there sat on the workshop shelf so can’t be plugged in and another a bale trailer has no brake coupling on the end of the pipe it’s been broken off.
I know The reaction will be refuse to drive it but can anyone honestly say they would refuse when numerous other employees don’t? I don’t think I’d have a job as I wouldn’t be able to do anything!

email then HSE report of someone being killed in such an accident- might make them think ?
Sometimes people need shocking and not protecting from the messy reality
Could you fit one on top of a hard hat [emoji23]Fit overhead cable detectors to combines to warn operators of the overhead cables when combining in the dark.
Especially needed if starting to harvest a field at night that you have never been in before.
I make no apologies for mentioning cable detectors a second time, and I can assure members I do not make or sell them.
Could we have a sticky thread publishing the HSE summary report of each fatality?
There is a new twitter account showing each and every one as they get released
Me. It may just be because I don't socialise much though and those affected have never mentioned it to me. I have read of plenty though.Perhaps to highlight the extent of the problem: does anyone not know someone who has had a PTO accident?
Who the hell would put a handle there, less than half an inch from the door mold, was lucky not to lose my fingers this morning View attachment 954326View attachment 954327
Imagine me bumbling along a minor road on my way to pick up supplies at the co-op. I pass a field with a tractor and round baler working its way along the rows of forage in the usual manner.Tried telling OH re possible dangers of cutting open dumpy bags of fert after reading various horror accounts but just got shot down in flames. The hardest to get money off are those with plenty and those with none !
