Hi, Minstrel/thistlex is a good combination i have used, can Thistlex be mixed with depitox to similar effect seems a cheaper way if it works, Thanks for any replies. Thistles/docks in established grassland is the problem.

Fluroxpyr is very good on docks & as a straight added to Thistlex is better value than purpose made mixes like Doxstar.

Creeping thistle takes more than one dose to cure it, plus you'll have unchitted seeds in the ground ready to grow - the herbicide does nothing on these, so accept that one spray does not fix the problem. It's best done in a warm spring than the autumn anyway.

It’s the fluroxypyr that hits the docks the hardest, the triclopyr in thistlex just makes sure the jobs done. Sorry, paused for a cuppa and see Brisell posted....... thistlex will stop creeping thistle pretty much dead in its tracks but you’ve got to time it so as many are popping their heads up as possible. So I would have topped at least a months ago and sprayed with thistlex about now.

If you are going to mix minstrel and thistlex make sure you use the full label rate of the minstrel.

Use plenty of water volume and steady spraying.

Creeping thistle are going great guns, often in spring they are slow to show up.

If weeds are too big at the minute then top them down and hit when regrowing. Still very growy and mild.

Use a decent adjuvant. Established weeds in grassland are some of the hardest to control. If you have a real mixture of weeds and a good mess just use forefront.
