Anyone had anything to do with the drive chain etc on the Thomas skid steer one side has stopped driving with the front wheel locked and the rear wheel free.

The drive chain will have broken and be jammed stopping the front wheel from turning. You have to take the pannel off between the wheels to get at the chain.

Literally just sorted this on my Thomas 75 last night wheel bearing collapsed making things move about and chain broke a link

jack it up take wheels off and there’s a access plate on the side

if a bearing has gone you’ll need to remove foot well plate for access and there’s a plate to the side to remove if it’s a rear one remove the seat and there’s a plate underneath next to the hydraulic motor all 13mm nuts

good thing about Thomas skiddys is you can fix them easily with a socket set/spanner’s and some hammers

The beauty of this forum, someone is always in the know.! Thanks for that reply...ill try and have a look tomorrow. How does the motor/chain set up work....i guess the motor in the middle then two chains going off a sprocket each way to each wheel?

Yes exactly like that it’s very simple

If the chain is chewed up where would I source it from? Not sure where the nearest dealer is without searching the web of course

It’s same size As baler chain when I went for a new join

so make sure you’ve got every link if it is broke and any farm dealership/workshop should have some in stock and they’ll count the links and give you the correct length

don’t think they make Thomas skidsteers anymore so you’ll struggle to find a dealer

It is 1 chain with the motor in the middle

so, I've got the side off to have a look in....thats the drive in the centre ...the brake discs has got caught in the chain and broken the chain....the tensioner is at the top of the picture..... Theres the end of the chain in a lump at the front wheel sprocket and it's fairly solid and can't get it out......its bent over a few times and jamming against the casing and the sprocket ..any ideas of getting the chain out thinking my only option is to cut a hole somewhere near the problem to get in and sort the tangle up out....no breakdown is ever straight forward!

That’s weird mine doesn’t have a tension or brake just 2 chains coming off the centre onto each wheel

If the chain already looks fecked cut it up

If you pulled the hub shaft out so the cogs free would that help
That's a good suggestion.... I guess it's just the nut off the back side of the stub and maybe there is something on the outside to slide it out....should be oil everywhere so it should just "slide" out....
