Anyone know how long op dip should prevent ticks?
We've a ewe lamb come in off the common covered, and she was dipped about a month ago.

High rainfall will have reduced the time it will stay in the wool, probably only a couple of weeks when it is as wet as it has been.
Also I don't think the strength of the Dip is as high as it used to be.

We were dipping for scab...so I bleddy hope it was up to speed!

Our hill has become bad for ticks in the last few years. Seen them on ewes a fortnight after dipping. Useless as a preventative. I'm pretty doubtful about how long scab protection is although,no doubt it is the best short term cure

30 years ago you dipped with OP and you wouldn't get any fly for a year.

Today it barely lasts 6 weeks !
Years ago dip used to have a strong smell and then we would add dieldrin powder. No worries about flies then.Today s dip is watered down to within an inch of its life!.

Have you taken any land out of production from last autumn?
