Been eating less and moving more for last 4-6 weeks. I'm no runner but managed 3.14 miles last night, have been going with daughter and she sets an app on her phone. I don't weigh myself, but I've now got a whole new wardrobe......all the stuff thats been lying in drawers and wardrobe I can now get into. The best bit is I feel so much fitter and more energy, it inspires me to keep it up. :)

Well done mate. It is hard work when you start but being able to go and have a run with your daughter is fab . She will be proud and remember those times.

Doctor Kenneth H Cooper, one time medical advisor to the US military, wrote a very poplar book "Aerobics" and greatly lauded the value of aerobic exercise for stimulating the human cardiovascular system and generally improving one's health.

Having very recently suffered what initially appeared to be a very severe attack of indigestion, I spent the best part of a week as a guest of my local hospital, where they pumped me full of aspirin, anticoagulants, and a whole dolly-mixture of other drugs. Upon being released from hospital, one of the cardiologists asked if I did any regular exercise and I told him that I was reasonably active and spent some time digging as a metal detectorist and also often traversed our stairs to serve my wife breakfast in bed every day but he appeared to suggest that I needed more extensive aerobic exercise!

So; dug out my copy of Doc Cooper's book and all I need now is to get my boots on and get out there walking following all Doc Copper's advice.

The trouble with weight, or losing weight, is that it's about 30% exercise, but 70% what you put in your mouth
You can't out exercise a bad diet unfortunately.
Fitness is another thing altogether, but if your goal is to lose weight there is nothing for it but to reduce the intake. Especially all those cakes & biscuits :)

Exactly.

Anyone who says "I can't lose weight"
Eats too much.
Simple as that.

I eat too much.

Err, by nature of my location & activities, I know a bit about hydration.
A lot of the time we feel a bit hungry or peckish, we are actually thirsty.
So, instead of that cake or biscuit, have a sip of water or a cuppa. We never go anywhere without water, so it's relatively easy.
Of course, being Australian I can drink copious amounts of black tea without worrying about the milk, dunno about that milky stuff you lot drink :)

I agree with most of the above. It really is simple. Try it and prove me wrong
Drink a lot more water
Eat less sugary foods
Do everyday tasks such as walking round sheep, faster....
You will lose weight
Complain that you have big bones and slow metabolism and don’t do any of the above, you will remain fat.

Perhaps it would be more accurate to asses body mass/density for required weight. A person with plenty of well toned muscle could show to being over weight.

It's the excess "fat" that's our major problem, and poorly exercised cardiovascular systems.

I'm good at talking the talk; "now" can I walk the walk, as instructed by Doc Cooper?

Yes, but generally if you are unsure if your bmi is caused by excess toned heavy muscle or fat...... I think you secretly know he answer! I’m quite well built after years of heavy weights, however I carry too much fat too so I actually know I’m a little heavy!

For the record my OP said I was training 1 hour a week ......it was a mistake I meant 4 x 1 hour a week with 6 mins of HIT at the end.
With Mr Back watching you there is no easy outs and it's starting to ache lol...
