Lords One Day International handover and first day of Investec Derby (Ladies Day) at Epsom. Took 2 hours longer than normal to get home on the dear M25 too. Thank goodness there are some cows to check on the way back

Yep winter did start on Monday for us, heavy snow over night, and arrived to a yard covered with snow on Tuesday morning. I was the lone traveller on the road, as it was closed further down due to some trucks jack knifing

Harvest finished last night so winter can now come. Today has rained all day and the local rugby fields look like ponds.

Had two inches of snow in our yard on Tuesday.

The boys were silaging, the drag up the hill, bedding some of the calves, me let loose scraping out pushed silage up to high yielders

I know I'm just a retired 'hobby' farmer (so strictly speaking not at work) but was topping my top field yesterday to keep the thistles under control and had to take a panorama as the valley was so beautiful. Magic up here with the red Kites and Buzzards flying overhead.

Thanks, BlackbobIt was an old industrial building-hubby got local chap to alter the slope of the roof to make an airy shed and ordered lots of roof lights-nothing worse than working in the dark
