Spent the afternoon loosening potato wheeling before the rain comes tomorrow, quick once over with the discs to level and then in with the Patriot to sort it at depth :)

Then at 7pm this turned up for a demo, many thanks Arron @AgriLinc pity it talks of rain most of the day tomorrow now, was expecting a demo model, not a shiny new one :nailbiting:

How wides the auger ? Have thought that a wide auger would be good for stanchion bases but I suppose a large enough one would need a big digger to drive it

Im pretty sure that is a 450mm auger, I have a 600mm one to fit it, which iirc is the biggest it will take. I've had the same thought as you about using it for stanchion posts, but I think it would be best on a bit bigger machine, and then it would drive a 900mm auger. Ive not got an auger for my 8 tonner, but would definitely consider it if the right job came along, it's a fast way to get a tidy accurate hole in the ground (y)

But you've got to be reasonably confident that there's nothing in the ground, you don't stand a chance if there are hidden services, like you do with a bucket......
