Tough phone

I need to get a new mobile phone, what phones are you using.
Obviously needs to be tough, for day to day. Getting wet, dust, shocks

I have has a Tuff phone for the last six months, works fine and is still in one piece, with the added bonus of being able to use two sims, I am not facebooking and snapchating all day so not sure how good it would be in that respect.

Samsung xcover phone is fairly sturdy. I lost mine for a few hours and found it in a puddle, totally unharmed, then it fell out of my pocket while up a ladder and smashed.
The problem was a coat with poorly designed pockets rather than a weak phone.
replaced it with a new xcover and bought a new coat,
the phone is fairly shock proof but I put a rubberised skin round it too

I get the latest children’s cast phone off and put it in an Otterbox type case.

I used to have tough phones but it’s often not the phone’s fault, and using used phones I haven’t got too much skin in the game.

I'm two and a half years in with a ruggex phone,its been dropped ,drowned and abused and is still going.

Had a few cat phones seem quite good, currently have s60. Doogee do some sturdy looking smart phones that you can get quite cheap direct from China if your not worried about warranty etc.

Just got a tuff phone, yes you could get cheaper similar from China but a local company that will hopefully sort us out if we get any issues.

I have an Ulephone 6E. Brilliant bit of kit. Fully drop/shock/waterproof, runs the latest version of Android. No app's have failed to run. Never had to reset it. It is IP69k rated. The camera isn't Huawei Pro grade but plenty good enough and the screen showing Youtube vid's is better than my 13 year old household tv. It even has underwater camera mode down to 10m. I don't live on my phone so it only needs charging every 3-4 days. This phone can sit in your hip pocket all day every day and take no harm.
Prior to that I had a Ruggear RG model which I lost one December. I found it in a hay rack in April after 4 months of rain, snow and temp's down to -12. A quick charge and it was back to life and work as usual.
Don't touch the Dewalt. It was the most annoying, failure to run p.i.t.a that I've ever had. It wouldn't run for a week without a hard reset.
My last 4 phones have been through Phonetrader UK. Very personable, knowledgeable folk. They even ring you when you are due an upgrade/ renewal. They talked me through getting a business account to access the best deals. They were great to deal with when I lost my phone and needed a new sim card. I enjoy dealing with them.

Just looked at all of them. Narrowed down to Ulephone as above and the more expensive AGM X3(£400+) which
Looks excellent.

But these phones are getting too big for pockets.

Went for Samsung galaxy S7 for £170 unopened and sealed off eBay. Reasoning that it’s IP68 water and dust proof faster than the above phones and a more manageable size. Runs Android 8 which is fine by me.

Put it in a UK company Tech 21 case and hardened screen protector. Only had it 3 days and just dropped it out of my top pocket landing corner down on a flag stone. Absolutely fine so ?to the case.

At £170 you can’t go wrong for an ex flagship phone.

Totally agree, I always put my mobile into a close fit silicone case and a glass screen protector, and so far they have survived some worrying incidents!!

My lad is an absolute thug with phones and the latest Moto G has been with him nearly 18months without any damage including several army exercises and deployments...!! The 6 quid tough case has been a great bit of kit for him...

Moto G phone and a case for under 90 quid... sorted!!

He reports the quality of Cat phones are... variable

I sourced my brother a Nokia 2.1 phone last year for around £100 iirc. It packed up completely in the last couple of days and will not switch on at all now. So I have now sourced a Motorola G8 for £200 or a bit less, which has a massive battery and a good reputation for the previous models. It may be a bit too big but when it arrives, which should be Wednesday, we'll see whether it needs some kind of case. Not something too bulky.

we found the same with CAT phones - and they seemed more prone to dropping the signal too
