Toyota Hilux 5th injector replacement

Been told this either need cleaning or replacing. Sounds like quite a job to strip and reach it and injector not cheap.

Anyone had this done (clean or replacement) and, if you don't mind, what did it cost?

Just to clarify, 5th injector is in the dpf system.

5th injector is in a water cooled housing just upstream of the DPF. Injector itself is about £130 new, but its usually the duct that blocks solid with carbon rather than the injector itself.

Thanks. I'm led to believe it's quite a job to get at it.

Dealer friend had a few go back to Toyota this age to sort this issue out so he's looking up the invoices too.

Had it done on my 63plate hilux , you have to have the new injector programed or it causes lots of problems ,like i had .

Was it an expensive job? Mechanic has frightened me a bit but was a bit vague!

Normally there's a chance you can clean it and it'll go again.. It'll be blocked and black with carbon as mentioned.

I bought the truck 2nd hand .it had an intermitant smoking problem after the garage changed the 5th injector under warrenty . It was a company that just do diesel problems found it had not been programed ,it took 2 days ,£280 .

You'll see it at the side of the downpipe at the end of the exhaust manifold.

It's held in by a sort of half moon clamp and 2 Bolts. I doubt you'd get at it without the manifold off.
