Steinbauer
I believe Steinbauer (who are the only tuning box makers I would let near my tractor) do indeed increase the injection duration, but do not change the injection timing parameters. As I understand, a Steinbauer adjusts the duration and timing of injectors to give the power increase, vaguely similar to a remap?
It does not just increase the common rail pressure like the cheaper tuning modules, nor give the error codes like the cheaper ones.
Remap it if you must.
My predecessor bought cheap plug & play chips that told the injection pump the fuel was ultra hot. 3 tractors done. 1 engine rebuild, 1 new hydro transmission, 3 sets of injectors, 7 turbos, 5 exhaust manifolds. The main cultivations tractor drank 2.5 tanks of fuel/day, smoked like an old Ford and eventually shat its engine apart. DON'T DO IT!
That's all well and good but how do the twin beacon and CB Ariel brigade survive in the harsh and. brutal world of Young Farmers down the pub bar when they have to brag about the "HP at the shaft" they probably never fully utilise to their mates .I'm not convinced that these chips are a good idea.
If you kill the torque curve at the expense of peak power I don't think it's a good thing.
You might end up with a peakier engine that does not lug as well and just dies off, I've seen this happen to a combine when it was chipped.
Some machines it's probably OK but others you have to think of the cooling requirements, heat generated etc and how much hotter things might run and will that be of detriment to the long term life of components.
Years ago we had a fiat 88/94 approx 100hp.Just buy a big enough tractor. You won’t regret it in the long run.
It is alleged that there is only a small percentage of New Holland TMs that have NOT had a spanner tune up.Just get an MX135 and get the remap spanner on it.....
