Who else apart from the nfu shall I try? Currently got 2 tractors with them paying just under £2400. Tractors are 2014, 115r and 2017, 155r
No claims etc upto 75% contracting.
Try mole insurance. I have four tractors total value about about 100,000 a combine a 13 tonne digger and hilux 25% contracting for sround £1500

Nfu wanted £900 plus to insure my 16 plate new Holland. That was a £250 rise in a year with no explanation. Phoned Greenland’s insurance who quoted me £500 for the exact same cover. Asked the nfu to reduce their quote and was told that was the cost and they wouldn’t be dropping it. Needless to say I’m now insured with Greenland’s. Would be worth a phone call to them.

I've got a quote coming from f&m but they only really seem interested in having everything insured with them. We got our pickups on a commercial policy for half the price of NFU for the same cover elsewhere. Same as house, went elsewhere with that. Only really got farm select and public liability and tractors with NFU. Obviously don't want any less cover it just seems a lot of money.
I have to add both have thatcham p2 keyed immobilizer, data tag and one has a tracker.

The Nfu mutual must still insure a high % of farm machinery if the amount of items sold by Hewitt Salvage is anything to go by. But too expensive for me, use a broker in Carmarthen.

Ouch! That sounds expensive to me.

Works out about 1% of the total value of all vehicles (cars and tractors) here. No contracting though which could push up premiums quite a bit, especially with quite a few claims.

Towergate, F&M, H&H have all been good previously.

Lots of broker policies are usually either with AXA, BIB, Rural or such. Not too many underwriters in the game.

https://www.lycetts.co.uk/insurance-services/rural/farm/ might be worth a look too.

As a guide my insurance company usually works on the value of your tractor of £100 for the first £1000 then £10 per £1000 after that. So for a 50k tractor it would be around £590. The 75% contracting may push the price up.

When we had a massive fire back in 2014 the contents (machinery & fodder) were insured by ourselves with NFU,building insured by landlord with another firm, money in our account to replace all machinery & fodder within 7 days which was a 6 figure sum,the building on the other hand took 14 months to get back up!!

Thats why I dont want to go with joe blogs insurance company, would rather stay with the devil i know.
I know that they will sort something, that if the worst would happen id be looked after to get back up and running.
But.. i dont want to be ripped off, bit more id accept but if several hundred id look to move. im sure there be more keen next year. Im sure the mutual bonus is what they add on being a valued customer not what they take off!!!

Just be careful that the quotes are like for like. Nfu mutual include things like internal damage and have a high max value on attached machinery. Tried before to get quotes for equivalent cover and was told " can't do that" and "why would you want that".
Obviously if you are happy to go with lower cover it doesn't matter.

I’m paying £3200 a year for these

1998 JD 7710 4800 hrs
1991 JD 4755 5000 hrs
2002 JCB 530/70 farm special super 2450 hrs
2005 Takeuchi TB135 5100 hrs

And that the cheapest I can find, and it’s with the NFU.

I also have a JD 3050 but if I add that on it’s another £500 a year !. My 2 vans are also with NFU @ another £430 a year.
