Tractor/Machinery price increases

But as the price of a new one rockets does that not leave more of a margin? S/H goes up a bit but nothing Like as much. A tired 936 can be had cheap enough (one sold here for 35k ish)but a new one is how much? Well over 200k? We should definitely be able to rebuild a modern engine in this country! Do Deutz not do a rebuild program for their newer stuff? The last air cooled Deutz I needed they sent me a rebuilt one for about 4K.
Give a brief description of a 936 that's worth 35k and pics if possible

I have a friend in the states that overhauls John Deeres back to new condition & sells them with a warranty they do mostly 4000 & 7000 ranges only , the do about 150 to 200 a year & have 2 or 3 years of work in front of them
Exactly. I think the parts are more expensive in the uk than other places and labour is dear. Parts should be cheaper and the unemployed sent out to rebuild tractors.. any mistakes come directly out of their wages!!

JCB 320S swapped last June but ordered previous November . Cost to change £36,000 or £9/clock hour. Previous 320S was swapped for original 320S 4 years before for £30,000 or £7.50 clock hour. All 3 machines almost identical except for add blue on last 2 and 8 speed box on latest one.

So it cost you 36k to swap a 4 year old machine?

I was reading the other day about tractor sales have risen, so clearly we don't mind the price increase that much, at the end of the day we can't do much about it.
I have maintained that as long as they are bejng sold…somewhere, theyll keep putting prices up…until sales suffer…which shows no signs of happening…. butter on the other hand…price went up, consumers bought less, price dropped…tractor firms are doing what any business would do, maximise revenue.

Why is nobody doing certified rebuilds like cat do? Will be as new at 2/3’rds of new price. New tractors are not much better than a 10- 15 year old one as far as I can see? I’d happily take an as new 824 turbomatic or an early 900 vario or even a rebuilt 395 for the loader!
That’s exactly what we’ll be doing come the time we replace our McCormicks, would much rather have an as new 824 Favorit and an as new 515c over any of the modern guff.

I actually did a bit of a fag packet comparison of a few new models all circa the same horsepower, using the list prices on the farmers weekly tractor and telehandler guides for 2022 and 2023 respectively. I know these aren’t on farm prices, but the increases in the past year are staggering, especially on CNH group tractors!
