id say given the quotes your way out, and you dont even have the option to do away with fendt vario to lower price
That’s kind of the point he’s making though, by the time you’ve put all the options on a Deere or any other competition to get a ‘like for like’ quote the fendt is really not that much more.
back 10 years ago the difference in price was more than made up for in PX value so it was only the first one that stung a little then subsequent tractors were actually cheaper than competition as the higher equity values, however now with 728’s up round 250k I’m not sure that model replicates it self as well as what the 820’s and early 724’s did. All manufacturers have “caught up” now on fuel economics in my opinion too, (apart from maybe JCB 🙄, although this may be the pee poor tank size

We don’t have any fendt tractors left now, only the sprayer. We have a right mixed bag of JD, Valtra, Massey, JCB & class, mainly due to operator preference and deals on the table at any given time.

best to freshen things up and save some tax in the process surely before theyre cut, thinking long term, not as if im pricing holidays to barbados is it, equipment is necessary its an input cost no different to buying fert or fuel in my eyes
Your survey is so flawed!
All it is doing is showing the approx sales proportions of those brand in the UK.

Not many will have experience of JCB, because they are too big for most farms.
However, we have both JCBs and New Hollands and the reliability of the JCBs wipes the floor compared to NH.
And I got rid of all my MF’s years ago due to the terrible reliability problems.

Does that mean the jcb is the reliable 1s or the nh? Sorry to sound dumb

if you ever sell up and retire, would you rather have a 5 year old massey to sell or 5 year old fendt or john deere
We could probably assume the Massey is the cheaper of the 3, so, put the saving on the Massey into an inflation calculator, thus https://www.thecalculatorsite.com/finance/calculators/compoundinterestcalculator.php and tell the class what the saving on the cheaper tractor is now worth. At some point in time, the value of all three tractor brands will be based on weight, when a Deere or Fendt gets to the end of its life the metal recycler doesn't off more , it will be £200/t or whatever.

Now, if you this that paying extra for a Deere or a Fendt is worth more to your business over a less favourable brand for what ever reason, then go fo it, but I doubt paying more for anything be it tractor or car, the depreciates just because it depreciates at a slightly lower rate than another, is the path to long term business success, particularly when you can offset depreciation against tax.

i dont, it would just be good to have the option
Why would it be a good option? Bit like going to Ferrari and saying let’s save some cost; let’s take the 7 speed automatic out and slip a 5 speed out of a Vauxhall in. Oh and let’s take the real leather out in lieu of some vynel seats from an ambulance.
If you buy a fendt you want all the spec. If you don’t want the spec don’t buy a fendt

Seems alot of offers and deals being offered on kit at the moment to try and ease the pain of paying but they arent dropping actual prices. Driving past a few new housing developments i see two year 2% mortgage deals being offered and £7000 towards deposits on others.
