Tractor with no V5

I bought a Ford 7610 series 2 late October from a machinery dealer. He claimed to have lost the V5 and said I could get a new one from DVLA. I had the tractor delivered to straight to my mechanics workshop to do a few small jobs on it. Having problems after sending in paperwork to DVLA and speaking to them as reg number and Vehicle ID do not match.
Yesterday I put the reg into DVLA number plate checker and it came up as belonging to a green Citroen. Has anyone any idea what may be going on?

Check with DVLA using VIN number for your tractor, after you contact the dealer first in person or phone, then by letter/mail. Others will know more .....
