Tractor with no V5

Iseki and Wessex deck has been stolen from our local rugby club (Cranleigh Rugby Club, Surrey) - purchased in 2019 before I joined their committee - transpires there was no V5 when purchased and the seller (a national dealer) said there was no need as it was not going on the road. Thoughts (mine are it was hot when it came in and stolen to order in just under a year - but over to the wider farming community
Why should a tractor be stolen because it doesn't have a V5. I'm not really sure what your point is.
You've presumably got an invoice for proof of purchase for the insurance claim?

As I said earlier in the thread there was a dealer in South Wales that simply wouldn't give out the V5 with the S/H tractors, and expected everyone to apply to the DVLA themselves. Why ? I don't know.
They weren't stolen.

I bought a Ford 7610 series 2 late October from a machinery dealer. He claimed to have lost the V5 and said I could get a new one from DVLA. I had the tractor delivered to straight to my mechanics workshop to do a few small jobs on it. Having problems after sending in paperwork to DVLA and speaking to them as reg number and Vehicle ID do not match.
Yesterday I put the reg into DVLA number plate checker and it came up as belonging to a green Citroen. Has anyone any idea what may be going on?
Did you ever get a way of resolving this?

We had a machine with an incorrect number plate. Insurance had the fake one and never queried it. I’d raised an issue with the dealer, that it showed different on their online manufacturers system.
Had an off road claim in that time too.
It was only after 5 years we realised we had never had a V5 so wasn’t taxed!
They made us pay for a new V5 from DVLA. That’s left a sour taste and all for a cost of £25!

local hero would deliberately alter a number plate to make out his tractor was newer than it was.

Yes we did get it sorted. The tractor had had a replacement number plate put on it but with one of the numbers missing. By going on the DVLA reg checker I managed to narrow it down to 3 or 4 possibilities. Spoke to a very helpful lady at DVLA and sent photos of the partially worn out IDplate on the bonnet lid. Got sent a newV5 and had the correct number plate made up.

Possibly a mistake when number plate was made
My uncle had a rear end smash many years ago, and the repairer transposed two of the digits when getting the new plate made up. About 6 months later the car was parked opposite way round and a geeky teenager 😳 thought "that number isn't right". No-one ever sees both plates at the same time!

Pity the dealers couldn’t have done that
