From about 1970:

MF 135, caught fire, replaced by a new 550. Terribly unreliable, replaced with a Ford 4600 in 1978, that I then sold in 2002.
MF135 - still here, the only one still here that grandpa bought
Ford 5600 - bought by dad in 1984, great tractor, still here. One of only two tractors over the years (the other being the 7480) that started life on the frontline, did virtually every job on the farm, and finished up in a semi retired, more backup role.

1989 onwards (farm size trebled)

1987 2wd MF399 bought in 1991 with 1000hrs, sold with 2500hrs for dads first new tractor, a 4wd 3085 in 1993.
3085 sold with 3800hrs for a new 6170 in 1997 (most unreliable tractor in the world)
6170 sold with 2900hrs in 2001 for an excellent new 6290 (closed centre)
6290 sold with 5800hrs in 2006 for a new 7480 (game changer, first vario, first front linkage & pto)
7480 sold with 12600hrs in 2018 for a 3yo 7618 with 1500hrs (still here)

1988 Case IH 956XL (TB Turbo, pulled like hell but no ground clearance) bought with 1000hrs in 1992, sold with gearbox issues for a new Maxxum 5130 synchro (again TB turbo fitted) in December 1995
Maxxum sold in 2003 at York sale with 6500hrs and a chewed up crown wheel and pinion (it had a Quicke Q980 loader from 1998)
1994 MF 3075 bought in 2003 with 3600hrs to replace the Maxxum (3075 still here) (JCB telehandler bought to take over loader work)

1996 NH 8340 bought as an extra in 1998, sold with a heavy breathing engine in 2002 for a second new MF 6290 (open centre, never quite as good as the other 6290 above)
6290 sold with 5400hrs in 2008 for a new 6490 (first autosteer tractor)
6490 sold with a poorly gearbox (for the umpteenth time) and 7000hrs in 2015 for a new 7620 VT (a different league, still here)

1996 MF 6180 came with 2000hrs in 2008 as an extra taty cart tractor, burnt out on the road in Sept 2016 with 5600hrs. Replaced with a 2700hr 2010 MF 6480 in May 2017 (still here)

2006 7495 came in 2009 with 2700hrs as another extra, (fresh taty harvester was too much for the 7480 and we were swapping implements around far too much) and was great (should of kept it) traded in for the first new 7620 VT in Dec 2013 (still here)

2005 MF 7490 came to replace a hire tractor in spring 2019 with 10,000hrs - still here!

Working fleet: 2x7620VT, 7618, 6480, 7490, 3075. Ford 5600 scruffles beet, tops verges and runs the saw bench. Project fleet includes (Ford 5600), MF135, father in laws 1958 Fordson Major, and a 1969 Landrover 109.

Loaders:
135 & Mil Master loader used to do everything bar grain (4" auger & a shovel did that!)
1978 Sanderson SB55TC (rough) arrived in 1990 for bulk and pallet work
1986 Matbro Teleram arrived in late 1991 to replace the sanderson.
1995 Matbro TR250 came new to replace the Teleram, sold (6500hrs) in 2005 for a new JCB TM300 (still here, on 11800hrs)

Ford 5600 gained a MilMarquis loader in 1997 to load straw in fields (still got it, loader not been on for at least 15yrs)

Maxxum gained a new Quicke 980 loader and some wheel weights and went on our 20,000t beet round in 1999. Replaced in 2003 with a 2001 JCB 530/70 with 1700hrs (still here, now on 11000hrs)

2012 JCB 536/70 arrived in September 2017 with 5000hrs to take over the now 28,000t beet round from the tiring 530/70 (JCB still here, beet round gone!)

Combines:

Earliest I remember is 8746BT - a 1958 MF780, 8'6" cut - I remember it running alongside the Matador in wet seasons, but not every year

Claas Matador Standard DWF787C 10' cut - came early 80's - great combine, lost in farm fire Jan 1992

780 was replaced when we moved farms in 1989 with a 1977 New Holland 1550s for the 1990 harvest - a brilliant combine, lost that in the fire in 92 as well.

Another 1550s was bought to replace the fired one, the idea being to swap some good parts over. It was terrible, suffered an engine fire in its third field. It was fixed, but sold before the next harvest....and replaced with a 1982 NH8070...that was just as unreliable!!!

Next, in 1995, came a really nice F reg 8070 - it was a pleasure to own was that one, only sold when we took some contracting work on and needed to up capacity.

That capacity came in 2002 in the form of a K reg TX36, good old combine. Sold with about 4000hrs on in 2014 for a ten yr old CX760 - a lovely machine to drive.

Well that was a nice trip down nostalgia lane! If only I could remember the important stuff as easily, with as much detail. Heyho

The Dexta and 35 were the game changer ,was amazing what such a small tractor could do with its low ratio gearbox. Forage Harvesters were taking off at the time which were power hungry but these tractors could easily handle them with the perkins engine were the old Major with single ratio gearbox struggled
