looming into buy a new sumo trio, deciding if a trailed would be a better machine to use following the ground better and for steep headlands. Have got a JD 6215R to put on the front. Are they a better machine than a mounted ?
Surely you won't get much weight transfer on a trailed so might struggle with wet steep headlands? Whose the chap on here with a trailed sumo in northumberland i think? @Bobthebuilder ?
Get a trailed. Easier on tractor , we changed from tractor killing mounted to trailed , totally different machine
But if you buy one , put a d d , or razor ring type packer on , leaves a better finish and cost less to run on scrapers , and is not like a giant handbrake when they fill up
800 d d or szz as me size razor ring is our choicec
One packer has probably done 2000 acre ish and not touched scrapers , other type of packer 3/400 acre and knackered unless you Ferobide every bit of scraper
When going with the mounted if there's a hollow in a field you notice how bad it is for the top link stopping it follow the ground so the legs don't get full depth .
But saying that I'd imagine a trailed to be worse going over a sharp rise for pulling itself in far too deep
