Have done lots over the years , Not a bad job for winter in the workshop with heater on , are you going to sand blast it & paint it when you are finishedMy 24 year old trailer is needing some attention, so the project beings, the pins in the rams came out no problem but the rear pivot pins were sold

It depends a lot on the trailers, we have done a few 10 & 12 ton trailers put hyd doors on them & new com axles air brakes the lot , it turned a 2.5K trailer in to a 10 k trailer, so it was a good thing to do.I always think by the time you’ve done a proper job on something like this it’s almost not worth it. I admire it but would a decent second hand trailer not be a worthy upgrade.
I ask this as we have a 1993 NC 8 tonner, chassis is sound but the body is goosed, not only that there’s no brakes at all now and a muck trailer without brakes or hydraulic door is a disaster waiting to happen.
Rather than spend thousands doing it up I’d rather upgrade to a 12 or 14 tonner with hyd door and also have to make less trips to the stubble in winter.
I find stick welding more reliable under farm conditions. Still got a lot to learn with Mig welding.I thought that I was the only person on
this site using rods for welding !!
What you mean is you don't need stuff as clean with a stick.I find stick welding more reliable under farm conditions. Still got a lot to learn with Mig welding.
