Trimble EZ Steer and cfx 750 in Claas Lexion 760

Hi

we have a Trimble ez pilot system with a cfx 750 display in our fastrac.
Thinking about swapping it onto the combine (Claas Lexion 760) for harvest as think we would benefit from auto steer on long days. Obviously the ez pilot is fixed in but how about buying an ez steer?!

as we already have the 750 screen and the receiver I’m thinking about getting the ez steer for the combine and just swap the display and receiver over from fastrac.

what do I need to hook this up? You’ll have to excuse my ignorance if I’ve missed anything out as I’m not fully up to speed with Trimble as I’m more used to green star in our JD. Just wanted to make use of existing screen and receiver.

any advice appreciated

cheers

We are away to do the same thing on our 570. Ez steer we bought came off a 570 so fitting hopefully shouldn't be too complicated. Got fm750 and ez pilot on another tractor so should just be a case of moving screen and receiver once ez steer fitted.

Hi farmer92, yeps putting EZSteers into Claas combines is relatively easy and has been done successfully many times, another, more cost effective idea is if you're not using your Fastrac guidance system why not move your EZPilot, CFX 750 screen along with your AG25 receiver across to your combine? It will be cheaper as all you would need is a Trimble EZPilot transfer wiring system combined with the platform kit for the Claas Steering column, you already have all the necessary hardware which you are familiar with using.
Please drop me a line on: 07796 601070 as I have a fair amount of experience with such matters and I was doing a similar job on a Claas 780 last Tuesday.
Where abouts are you in Britain? Best Regards Paul Knights.

Is it not possible to use the hyd steering valve already on the combine with the cfx screen?

I am not seeing a supported EZ-Steer bracket for that 760 but if you know the steering column is similar to: (405, 410, 420, 430, 440, 450, 460, 470, 480, 510, 520, 530, 540, 550, 560, 560R, 570, 570R, 575, 580, 580R, 585, 590R, 595, 600) then you could use EZ-Steer Bracket for Lexion . If you want to post a pic of the column i may be able to help point you in the right direction

Your other option is to get an EZ-Pilot Transfer Kit and a platform kit for your 760: Platform Kit for Claas 760 & EZ-Pilot Transfer Kit

I'm wondering how this ended up. We have a 750 id like to add an EZ Steer to. However I can't find a bracket that would work. The only non plastic area is the steering column that spins with the steering wheel.

It’s a bang bang steering valve on the claas not a proportional valve so won’t work so I was told.
I did two Lexion 760s this year, converted from laserpilot, to AgOpenGPS - despite it being a bang-bang valve, it actually works really well (it was good enough for laserpilot anyway). Might not have quite the control, but as you know, the combine isn't a job where you're racing along making big corrections to the steering and slow/minor corrections did the job perfectly well.

Underneath the command arm, to the right of chair, the ATP9 module is there. I put a two-pin connector on the laserpilot pins, and re-routed them to AOG instead. This means that if AOG ever acts up, the owner could quickly switch back to laserpilot. It works really well - and the combine has a wheel angle sensor of course too, so that's not an issue.

Fraction of the cost, and tidier install than ezsteer of course.

From memory:

Pin 14 is wheel angle sensor so tee into that and send to AOG, Pins 6 and 8 from the cytron on AOG. And you're pretty much done. Don't have 6/7 powered by AOG at the same time at the ATP module of course.

I also had a look at a 570, but the steering requires a pressure top-up as it runs (otherwise, it just stops steering). That's documented in the guide, so I just need some time over winter to look at that and work out the best way forward.
