Trimble Ez Steer vs Ez Pilot. Any comments ?

Whats wrong with it?
Compared to the fmx on rtk it is useless. To get on line you have to be bang on with it before engaging or you will be at other end of the field and it still not on line, if you are not moving fast enough it will not engage so difficult to find your line in like spraying grass etc where there is no visible mark to start of on so you end up starting the run not spraying to find your line then reversing to stay on line and then start spraying, ok on grass but not handy on pre- emerge one cereals so you still need pre emerge marks do do the job. Mine will sometimes just keep rotating the screen like a clock ??? Unless it is going to make your life easier why bother?? Mine is on rtx signal which some people drill with??? I can,t understand how they manage I don,t trust mine to spray with. I can only suggest try before you buy.

It sound like the setups out. Yes I do find built in system is easier to use, no experience of RTK but I know its easier again, but EzPilot on RTX should perform much better than your experiences.
I use EzPilot and RTX for mowing, drilling, my brother uses it for pre ems and its fine. So it could be worth checking the settings.

I do RTK with ez-steer. Once online it works well. Keeps it +-2cm most of the time.

For drilling grain and planting / lifting beets I have the antenna (AG 25) for cfx-750 mounted up front. A bracket in front of the tractor almost as high as cab. It's does not look nice but works well on my 28 - 36 years old tractors.

Of course you have to fix all the steering components to a good shape (tie rod ends etc) to get it go well. And calibrate the system well.

On my spraying tractor (43 years old Ford 5000) antenna is mounted on cab. The bracket I made gets it some 30 cm in front of windscreen. So it's fairly close between the middle of front and back axel. When spraying and broadcasting fertilizer I first drive 2 headland swaths. That makes it easier to get online with this ASSISTED steering system.

Just this year I went to a field-iq system with my sprayer. Had manual sections before. Another great improvement. Have been able to increase spraying speed quite a bit and doing much better job.

I have a steering knob on all of my tractors. No problem with fingers getting in between.

Great gadgets. Helps to get so much more of old iron and not so young anymore farmer;-)

But not just like dancing all the time. Seen boot loops, terrain controller errors, bad touch screen replaced under warranty (took the extended one), bad battery ground connections, screen circling around and cell based rtk-correction problems...

I have learnt a lot from different ag forums. I link here couple videos. Hope they inspire someone...

On latest firmware has made getting in line a lot easier
Morning Richard. Thanks again and again for sorting me and the "Cat" out in less than no time.
What is the latest firmware and is there any direction of where to download from. RTK I have been trying to get to work in the last week doesn't seem to have relieved the tension within the sprayer cab getting on line is one of the issues. Xfill just keeps searching all the time with the odd occasional tracking moment but never at the time I loose signal. When I was on egnos lots of the time I was seeing 11 satellites on RTK max I have is 9 most of the time 8. luckily all the issues just help stop the brain going to "Sleep"

The xfill satellite is changing, different frequency and baud rate. Its the same as the rtx I think, it's not been widely publicised, my dealer called me up to let me know.
