Troublesome teleporter

Was contacted by a dear friend who has recently bought a teleporter, she a tad long in the tooth of late 80's vintage. It is powered by a Ford skid unit from a 555 digger.
It starts on the button engages forward and reverse how ever it has an ATF leak from the bellhousing.
So what to be done to fix the machine? Could it be the torque converter mounts gone or a crack in the torque converter.
How does one split it to get at the offending parts....................................................................
Is it worth the hassle?.........................
What are the parts likely to cost?

Take it for a good drive, make sure it pushes well when its warmed up so you know the trany is okay.

Then you got to split the engine away from the skid unit one way or another, it might be a cracked converter but thats rare, more likely the oil seal or i think theirs some little pipes in there too on a valve which you can kind of access from the top of the skid unit just in front of the bell housing should be a plate you take off.

Maybe check them pipes first from above then split it. if splitting then i would get the converter overhauled anyway just in case it is cracked. Far too much work to pull it all out replace seals only to find its a hair line crack in converter.

I had one out 3 times in an old sanderson once trying to find the leak. It took about 100psi to make the bloody thing leak on the bench!

I wouldn't go spending much money on it though just isn't worth it unless your in to vintage restoration!
the basic wearing Trany parts should be easy enough too get i think as its a ford funk and was very common.

Wow that brings back memories.
First handler we ever had was one of these early Manitou.
Was a revelation from the tractor and loader was quite heavy and got it stuck a few times , seem to remember we had terrible trouble with it over heating when we Tried to buck rake with it and on longer road journeys between farms.
visability to the right was poor with the high boom but Was a good machine , traded it in for a 4 wheel steer version which never did feel quite so well built or sturdy as the original.
