I don’t know about wisdom, but shortage of grass has meant I started transitioning my main mob onto beet about ten days after the tups went in this year. Fortunately the two beet fields are next door to where those ewes are, so easy enough to open the gate.
If you just let them in (as I normally do), they will gorge on it and get belly ache if they’ve grazed roots before, which wouldn’t be ideal during tupping or soon after.
Unless they have high protein grass too, you will need to make sure they graze tops and roots together, so maximum 3 day fence shifts, or the diet will be very low in protein, suppressing intakes.
Obviously you will need to make sure mineral deficiencies are covered too, of course.
