Tyres????

Hi everyone,
New here, just looking for a bit of advice really.
Have a John Deere 6930 premium, popped a rear tyre while hedge cutting and have a couple of questions.
Can I put a new tyres on the rear without renewing the front tyres? Front tyres are about 25%, had a few people tell me that I could wind the front diff up if I put new tyres on rear but not on the front?
Tried for a few days to find a good part worn tyre but no luck so far and time is running out to finish my hedge cutting workload.

Best to replace all round really but I’d be happy replacing rears with new if fronts are 25%

Where you from? If you disconnect your 4wd brakin switch so its not goin into 4wd on tarmac/concrete it will be ok to use 4wd in field with the different ratio wont do her no harm

Trouble is, part worn tyres will probably be making far less mess this weather than new ones.

Am currently cuttin on slicks. No use on steep bits but for level bits they dont mess and not bringin heap o stuf onto road

Thanks for the replies.
Got quite a bit of field hedge cutting still to do which is why I was looking at getting part worn tyres as don’t think some of my clients will be happy with the mess new tyres are going to make especially with how wet the fields are at the moment.
I need 650/65/38

Or you could put a 580/70-38 on temporarily to keep you going if you can find a worn one.

A 580/70-38 is pretty close in rolling circumference to a 650/65-38 , and will happily sit on a 20" wide rim. So will give you another option of tyre size to get you going.

So there’s no need to change the front tyre size as well?
Could I use the 580/70-38 on a permanent basis or would I need to go back to a 650/65/38?

Your temporary replacement tyre only needs to maintain the equivalent rolling circumference as your existing 650 rear tyre.

Generally a 520/85 r38 a 580/70 r38 and 650/65 r38 are all close enough to run with a 540/65 28 on a permanent basis but different makes of tyre can be a little bit too much out to run so be careful

Its only a problem when you are braking on the road, and if there is say 10% lead on the front axle it will probably just lower it to 5% lead.. so actually better. Try just fitting one first and see what happens.
