Hi everyone,

I am currently writing my undergraduate dissertation at the RAU. It focuses on how farmers are managing the risk of wildfire, how farmers work with Fire and rescue, what resources are available, and if farmers consider wildfire to be a serious threat (or future threat).
If you would be kind enough to complete this anonymous short survey (2-3 minutes maximum) I would be hugely grateful:

Many thanks!!!

Grumpy farmer alert.
The phrase wildfire is similar to thundersnow or snowbomb, created by the press. It used to be called stubble fire or heathland fire etc, really gets on my wick.
I genuinely wish you luck with you dissertation and further studies.

I agree it is a bit of a problem as it is rather broad, though the reason I am using it is because it is used both by Fire and Rescue Services, and the Government, in their guidance documents and other publications etc. I am using the Scottish Government's definition of wildfire as "any uncontrolled vegetation fire which requires a decision, or action, regarding suppression". Thank you for your supportive words and your interest.

Might also be worth contacting Dartmoor Commons Council and Dartmoor National Park Authority. They organise fire fighting training days with the local fire brigades and several commoners are 'trained' to fight moorland fires under the direction of the local fire brigades.
