I went to do a job on a case tractor on a farm and wound up taking a look at his unimog u1000 whilst I was there. Initial complaint was that it was slow to turn over and would not start long story short ended up removing the starter that was fried took out the clutch and the drive in front of it, which spins freely one way but won't spin the other I put in a new starter and tried it with just the torque converter attached to the engine, it fired up straight away and span up freely I put the box back onto the torque converter and it's slow turning over again I presume the box houses the forward reverse packs the clutch attached to the rear of it, then a prop shaft that runs to the gear box. I'm not too familiar with unimogs but everyone's got to start somewhere I guess I'm just looking for someone who could give me some advice or who re cons these units. I would say it's like forward and reverse are engaged but like I say it turns freely anti clock wise but really tight clockwise. enough so to stall the starter. Any advice would be very welcome. Thank you..
Ps I know my grammer sucks and I can't spell but I'm pretty good with spanners so could the grammer police just keep on walking
