I have had letters like this, so I looked into it.
The distribution assignment from your grid provider belongs to the applicant!
If you sign the permission to apply then you are not the applicant!
If the grid distribution is assigned then you don't have to agree to work with them in the loosest sense of the words, but you will have to work them if you want to use the grid assignment that they would then control for your land.
Run for the hills.

You can apply for a grid assignment yourself.

For those with deep pockets, the patients of a saint, no regard for hair loss and the time, then crack on.

For the rest of us, find a company with a good reputation and give them a little trust.

We all get loads of letters like this, even door stop calls, had a few this month.

I can vouch for OPED, if they send you a letter don’t bin it, it’s worth some consideration.

One of the best companies I have worked with in the last few years and I have no commercial interests in their success (only for my kids)

They’ve developed 100mw across 3 county’s. Not very impressive.
It does though suggest you should be looking at things,
Find a grid consultant to submit grid application on your behalf then you are in full control.

I was thinking more down lines of picking a known firm to deal with and take the per Ac coin as opposed to ' black or red it ' but with talk of gov being against land solar who knows now !

if you have not got the process well under way by now then Liz is not making it look too appealing for sure, but she may not be around for long.

There are still costs attached to getting an agent involved, grid check is a few £000 for starters and agent will want paying for doing all this. of course if you have a 50MW connection on your farm and you can secure it then you can go to the market and take your pick but i only know of one person who has ever done this and he had time...

truth is most connections have been tied up years ago, if you find one local now don't go assuming it will still be there once you have sunk a 6 - 7 figure sum in planning - DNO like to move things about a bit!
