Unusual pick up purchase (Mitsubishi L200)

Im about to pull the trigger on a L200 5 series. It looks great and is priced to sell quickly. The chap says as much. Its a private seller. He says he is away with work and will only complete the sale if it is delivered to me. Obviously I only pay on delivery but im not clear if i can road test it or not. The HPI is all clear and everything. Has anyone got any experience with a purchase like this?

I did a fairly in depth hpi check and the mileage is consistent. Nothing comes up as stolen, smacked up etc. It does seem too good to be true but am I looking a gift horse in the mouth?

If it sounds and priced too good to be true unfortunately 99 times out of 100 it normally is - Get a live video around it, Whatsapp video call or similar, get them to show you the V5 in his name and correct address on the video at the same time. Check VIN and Number Plates match up and its not just the same model vehicle they've cloned plates onto.
Regardless if he's away or not if he's getting it delivered to you he has someone at base where it is that will be loading it, sorting docs, keys etc that can do the above for him if he's away. If he won't do this then don't touch it with a barge pole. I'd still be extremely cautious

Any purchase like this and there is some 'obstacle ' put in the way just fekem off ,

it's nigh on guarantee to be a swiz !

If somebody wants to sell something they are generally going to advertise when they will be about to allow someone to view it ,

' not think oh i am away at work next week so I'll advertise that motor so I'm not about for viewings '

There’s a great word from the past👍

I know of a bloke recently who bought a car which was priced to sell very quickly, similar sounding story really. Everything checked out paid car got delivered all good. Couple of days later police turn up and take car off him. Apparently he was the fifth person got with the same car! Money gone unfortunately.
As said already if it sounds too good to be true it usually is. Tbh you're asking on here so you've got you're suspicions already I wouldn't risk it.

Police take the car then hand it back to the person doing the scam?

No i think they must have been churning out same colour cars with same chassis number on as they got rid of one. Probably how the police were on it quickly as reg no probably flagged it up when taxing it or something. I guess if they were getting cars sold close enough together any checks would be clear until system caught up.
