Urea spreading date

Is there a U.K. T sum map published anymore?

There is a free calculator for interested people available designed for amenity grass e.g. golf courses to time applications of pgr (Trinexapac-ethyl), but a day degree is a day degree what ever the end use: https://www.syngentaturf.co.uk/growing-degree-days

T Sum as I understand it is a form of customised day degree with a 4C base line in the UK

Amenity grass grows at 0-6C in the UK, so that either can be used as base temperature, AHDB suggest that 0C is used as the base for wheat, https://ahdb.org.uk/knowledge-libra...llering-growth-stages-in-winter-wheat-gs1-gs2

I use TSum200 here.

It is somewhat location dependent. It could be something you consider for your location. I would say that if you are in area that has mild winters it could work.
Another thing is the Tsum was put into the equation years ago when most of us used AN nowadays with more urea being used the Tsum date and the likely date of urea being available as n to the crop needs consideration so im thinking put urea on about 10 days in front of Tsum date taking historic Tsum dates into consideration, which here means as our historic Tsum date is between 25 and 30th of jan as soon as we can travel which on osr could well be tommorrow .Its a gamble but id rather be a few days early than a fortnight late.

Seen first spreader of the season on some corn today, guessing urea from the white dust stuck on the spreader. Obviously not overly concerned by Sunday's forecast and the nigh on 30 degree slope...

Polysulphate arrived today, ended up getting busy last year then very wet march and all timings out the window so I'll try and get that out ASAP, then a splash of urea after that.

My thoughts exactly if I'm putting spreader on for poly it can have a bit of urea aswell , might counteract the pigeons on osr a bit.

It's all a question of whether the crop can use the N before the fertiliser is lost through leaching or volatilisation. Urea is pretty safe in this respect but you may not see the crop taking it up for another month yet, unless we get an exceptionally mild spell, of course. So a bit risky.
Daytime temps up to 14C next week..... Nightime lowest is 4C and up to 8-9C

Westerwolds will get moving in that I reckon, as will some of the new leys. Wheat's will perk up a bit too...

We hit TSum200 today on the farm. A week or so earlier than normal. But this has been a strong ElNino year. Which for us, means drier and warmer than normal winters. The Italians are dancing. The Dips are yawning and a little grumpily. The Tets are stretching with the winter active legumes. The party has started in subterranean level. Before I know it will be 30C but that is still at least 70 days away.

Im glad we took the chance with an application on the frost on our 2nd wheats/osr. had a look yesterday growth is starting. forecast for the next 10 days is one day rain one day maybe dry so a bit of pressure off as if and when it does dry up we will be in overload workwise.

Yes, given this benign spell of weather we could have got away with a bit on. But I'm still fine to wait.

Bit of a wet week forecast, then possibly frosty next weekend, when we could ‘ice-road-truck’ some on.

But the BBC keep changing their minds as to how much, let alone if the frost will actually come.

Someone mentioned that Urea needs rain on it shortly after it is applied or it will have losses.
“Bollox” it does!
It’ll happily just sit there until rain arrives, even weeks later.
