Vaderstad blocking

Our Vaddy keeps blocking drilling into cultivated wheat stubble (straw removed). It is damp (even wetter today). New coulter discs put on. Frame is level. Coulters are in the middle hole. A neighbour always runs his in the top hole. Does this help? Any advice?

Does one of the discs have a stone wedged in stopping it rotating, I had a problem with this yesterday. The other issue I have had is the wheel scrapers worn or too far from the wheel, if its very sticky the soil will build up around the frame and eventually there will be enough for the wheels to start bulldozing it. I have new discs on and use the middle hole, move to the bottom one when the discs wear.

We had this problem recently in exactly the same conditions and found that two of the arms carrying the disc’s had got slightly bent presumably running over a rock or concrete however replaced arms and no more problems also make sure that you have angled the drill back another turn for wetter conditions

If a single coulter has a small gap between the disc it will slip in these conditions and block. Are you sure they are all in good contact and running freely? I presume it blocks in the centre under the tank?

No it blocks in different places but this could be part of the problem. New discs and coulters have gone on. We didn’t replace the fat washers. Do they deteriorate? And we probably ought to check the disc clearance now another couple hundred hectares has gone by.

I have no direct experience but I was told to make sure that the cultivation discs weren’t in too deep ie shallower than drilling disc to help keep turning

My pottinger c6 has been a pig to block in not so ideal conditions.
Have put a stop to it once and for all now by removing the front drilling discs.
Been out with it today in some sticky rape stubbles and never blocked once
