Vaderstad rapid questions

I had a 4m on a t7.260 new Holland last backend and our steeper land made it work so I think 4 will be enough
I agree with you as we are completley flat round here, he now runs it on a fendt 724 dualled up and that's boss of the job!

Never bothered with blockage sensors on any of my Rapids over the years. They are more common on the wider row spaced drills like Horsch CO/Sprinters where a blockage means lost yield.

What's to look for when veiwing a used rapid is it just wearing metal and make sure it all works ?
Depends on age too, I got a 2002 years back and thought I’d just put new wearing metal on it and it’ll be sorted, there’s many points on the frame that are just metal on metal so no wearing parts to replace, got to cut out and rebush I guess but I looked at it and was thinking big job, the same goes for the black bars that tie the wheels to the coulter, so essentially controlling your seed depth, they were so badly worn on mine it was going to need cutting out and weld in bush work. I’ve not had a newer model than that but when looking I thought lots of these problems I had on mine are now replaceable parts. I know the system disc is, mine was metal on metal and again was buggered. Can’t polish a turd don’t they say!!

I looked at one last week with staggered wheels and it had the handle winders on the wings the guy said it was a 2011 but it was the square hopper so was definitely older
I'd guess he didn't know what he talking about, 2001 more like, not that I know that much, I'm 100% on tank being 09 and sure staggered wheels at 07 but the hydraulic adjustment of the system disc I'm not so sure, my neighbour got a 07 two weeks ago and that's got hydraulic system disc.

I had a 2006 6m Rapid and it had staggered wheels & central coulter depth control. I'd look for wing pivot wear and cracking around the hinges. More wear on the outer discs might mean sagging wing sections. I fixed mine by fitting land wheels to the wings. Beware also of the wing pressure - I can't remember what the pressure should read but the tendency is for excessive wing pressure and deeper sowing on the wings.

Our 2007 rda400 mixed grain and fert with staggerd wheels was one of the very first drills with central depth control. It was a prototype version and was modified before we got it. The factory wouldn't do it on the production line so was done by the vaderstad area guy. Works well but doesn't have the pressure control like the 6m has so need to lift the drill right up occasionally and pressure the wings down as they can over time lift up slightly. Our drill runs on all the wheels when lifted unlike the standard drills at the time which only ran on the middle 3m of tyres.
