I know this is a bit of a length of piece of string question but I have just been asked " what are 400 limousin coos in France worth "
He is Scottish hence the coos.
He has just bought house over there
He is not buying cows
Presume he means breeding cows

And he has just said "ballpark figure"

Anyone with any thoughts

Ah.
Apparently they belong to his neighbour who had a bull win some prize at the Paris show In last year or so.
So they could be worth anything really depending on the reputation of the breeder.
Thanks for replies anywau

Surely good quality pure bred cows for breeding are more?
Or are there too many cows about or no money in them like here!!

Well no, a fat cow should be worth 1600/1800, you could get real heaven ones to 2k (we did some 3 and a half year heifers at 1950) and that is basically the rate for breeding cows. Of course, a good cow 8 months pregnant with her 3rd calf is going to be the best part of 2 K

I don’t think there’s much difference between fat cattle and cull cow prices and may be in front of it at times that should give you some indication that if young cows with a few years breeding left in them they will be well in front compared to suckler prices here

Seeing pics of your cattle before I’d look to marketing them elsewhere as they should be!!

Got 30 something to go away soon. Summer 2018 they were up around £1200 but sure last lot that went away in backend weren't much over 1k.

Just put them to local mart. Slaughter house taken over by kepak and they've started taking cows.

What price are you getting for cull cows?
