Boris Johnson is preparing to sack five women from his cabinet but is planning promotions in the junior ranks to justify the claim that he is leading the most female government.

Well that didn’t last long.

Did you honestly expect her to be at Defra long? I assumed last year it was a position for dedicated Leave campaigner from the referendum, to shore up his position in the Conservative and Brexit Party in the period from July through the autumn. Be more interesting now the General Election is won if Boris dumps these Leave folk, many of whom are not that bright or effective as ministers.

Villiers is well out of her depth at Defra. Heaven help us if she isn’t moved.

From what we have seen thus far, it does appear the government is determined to provoke radical change in UK Agriculture and Land Use. One must hope that Mr Johnson appoints as Defra secretary (assuming Defra remains in its current form) a minister with high profile, intellect and the ability to explain clearly and coherently to farmers and land owners what exactly the Conservative and Brexit Party vision is of the future.

And the means to get the treasury to cough up. If they're expecting us to offset everyone else's environmental impact, it's going to cost them

The only fly in the ointment is the perception to have a “woman quota” at cabinet level. To boot out 5 women abd replace them with men - no matter what their competence - will bring down a lot of opprobrium on BoJo’s head.

Bit disappointed with your post. It is a serious comment on politics. I thought you might rate the five ladies shown for 'phoaar factor' with a few select photos of said ladies in maybe a tad less conventional 'business' clothing! :)

Have it on good authority that she will be gone this week.
