Vitamin drench, any good

Do any of you guy give younger lambs a dose of the stuff threw the summer, l usually give them a dose at spanning time also do they work, in 2013 l dosed all my tallenders with liquid gold, and they defo thrived better, although l had alot less lambs about that year with deaths threw fluke and bad spring. May it was imagine it. If often thought about dosing ewes before tipping to see if they scan better. Has anyone tried that?

Do you know if you're short of anything vitamin/mineral wise?
You can get a better micro bolus for lambs and loads of different bolus's for grown sheep. Depends what you're lacking in, as to weather it makes a difference. Iirc drench lasts about 3weeks?

Any drench or bolus will only improve anything if you have a deficiency to correct, despite what some very dubious salesmen will claim. I wouldn't be spending money without having ascertained the TE situation on your farm (only once, then you will have an idea for other years).

Here, rectifying TE deficiencies make a dramatic difference to animal performance. Back home, with the same sheep, they made very little difference.

Get some bloods done. It’s a good investment. I found out I was short of colbalt and now bolus the ewes for that which has improved ewe health and I now use a mini bolus for the lambs so no need to mess about drenching them every 4 weeks.

Going to give mineral drench with bolus this year instead of just colbalt drench and bolus. We’re really low in colbalt and selenium. Only costs penny’s. Lambs will be 8 weeks old.

Are you mixing your own? Cobalt only lasts a few days so I’m thinking of buying that stuff that works out 9000 lambs for £15 and giving it the same time as the bolus, also cobalt and selenium lacking here.

I use mayo bolus for the ewes and lamb let the gun but don’t think it’s small enough for the lambs, do they do different guns?
They do make small bolus guns but there should be 2 black rubbers in each pack of lamb boluses. They fit on any large drench gun. The drench will squirt/wash the bolus down.

We have had bloods done before. Cobalt and selenium both come back as fine... but if we regularly dose with a Cobalt, Selenium and b12 drench we do see an improvement in lambs. Gimmers are almost always better if they get a cobalt bolus as ewe lambs, too.

Not sure what that says (n)
