Hope everyone’s sheds are still standing in this horrific weather!!! Depressing outside. We have a volac feeder, it has cost a fortune to maintain and fix over the 4 years of having it, so much so Iv considered changing it for a holm and law feeder or whatever u call it! The key pad keeps breaking, the only 2 buttons I need are broken yet again. It needs a new keypad, just wondering if anyone has had this issue and was able to sort themselves/source a new keypad. As the call out fee will be 200£ plus. Thanks in advance

Would David king electronics be worth a try? Would think they may be quieter this time of year and get you a quick turnaround?

I don't know anything about the feeders but David King is to helpful for his own good! I rang him with a problem on my tractor once, on the phone for 15mins, he talked me through it and didn't charge.

JFC have launched their own automatic calf feeder in Ireland and are bringing it to the UK shortly. It looks very interesting, central mixer which pumps milk to each feeder so if you have 4 feeders then 4 calves can drink at the same time as opposed to 2 with H&L. Also seems to have a really good user interface, app and option of feeding two types of powder!

can't remember what they called it, but you can get a box that'll measure what milks going to the calves that'll let the stations suck at once. It'll maybe let up to 4 stations feed at once out of the one mixer bowl. £1800 they told me

Holm & Laue has a new feeder, feeds 4 calves at the same time, but all individual !
that’s the big benefit, next that you could mix two powders and whole milk.
We are very happy with it.
All controlled by mobile where ever you are, we get even a signal before the powder is empty.
Great machine

Sold mine to relation ,last time I asked it had needed 2 keypads,he said it was caused by moisture ingress due to leaving the lid open.

Do not buy Holme and laue, the amount I’ve spent on repairs would of bought the machines again. We are going back to buckets once the machines are knackered. Fed up with company’s selling us crap that doesn’t last and then charging us even more to repair it

I can relate to that, the feeder stands below a drip in the roof, realised this so done my best to prevent this drip. Still gets dripped on!!
I think you need some form of umbrella above it or a sort of cubicle type lid mounted above head height to stop it happening again.

Holm and Laue can feed 4 calves at the same time, in total 150 with one machine, but the big benefit is that they still feed each calf their own fresh mixed portion!, no other system can do this, so you are also able to feed one calf medicine or whole milk and the other powder, and they can walk in the same pen.
All data about your calves are available on your mobile phone, even you get a massaged before the powder is empty, and they got a real HygieneStation that cleans the teat, al the slime and clean water will be collected in a trough so that the environment by the drinking station keeps dry, no bacteria and pests

@JoFarmer - can the capacity to feed 4 calves at the same time be retrofitted to an older machine? We have had a H&L machine for about 8 years and as we want to introduce about 100 very young calves onto the system over about 4 weeks we find the limitation of only 2 calves drinking at once a real pain!
