Hi,
I am looking for permission from a land owner/custodian to fly my hawk initially for training but eventually with a view to hunt vermin quarry species for the forthcoming hawking season. I am fully British Falconry Club insured (£5 million Public Liability) and can provide references. I am willing to pay for this privilege if required.I live in Fakenham Norfolk but would consider travelling.
I have been hawking since 97 but took a break to raise my family and am looking to return but having moved and with the break I’m starting from scratch again.
I do not want to enter into a new bird if I cannot secure some land in the next few weeks.
For those unaware, for training a field is more than ample, this will start in the next couple of months. for hunting a few hundred acres is all that’s required and this can be rough ground, field margins or copse and woodland. This season starts sept/oct and runs 3-4 months after which the birds are then rested for the main summer months. Flights can be over in minutes and with young birds an outing would likely not result in a kill and even if it did the first few would be a single catch in a day. At best when fully trained and hunted 2-3 head would be all that’s taken so disturbance and impact is minimal.Previously if flying on ground actively shot most would request it’s only flown after the last shoot on the land but as it’s target is rabbit this is not a problem and the flying season can be tailored in the bird to suit the access.
If you think you can help in anyway at all please get in touch.... 07828 537774
Many Thanks Mark
