Hello,

I'm looking for Angus semen from some old Angus bulls. Fraser of Stern, Jovial of Hingaia, Hingaia 322 and Waitapu Tremble or anything similar.

If any one knows where I can source such semen of any quantity please let me know.

Thanks;):)

Of all the current beef breeds in the UK, the Angus is the one which stands out as having vastly improved over the last 30 or 40 years.

Some of the older and more respected suckled- calf producers tell how, other things being equal, the weaning weights of Angus cross calves has improved by at least 50% (an example might be: 350 kg against 240 kg at about 9 months).

it depends how you define "improved". If you want a moderate animal that runs on a low input forage based system inline with the industries regenerative future, the old fashion animal is what you need. If big weaning weights is your only target (benefiting the feed and vet seller) then the colossal modern "improved" angus is what you need.

Improved Angus!! Feckin terrible things, bought one to put on heifers, worst thing I’ve ever calved to in my life!!! Soon fecked him off, massive calves all stuck at the shoulders, very disheartening experience!! Neighbours got several of them, look like black Lims more than Angus!! But that’s doing a dis-service to a black lim!!!
