Looking into moving from a system using Sumo Trio followed by combination drill to one using a tined drill that will either work after the trio or drill direct. I have used a Sim Tech this spring to put in some spring beans on a barley stubble (most of the field is heavy and wet but some lighter). The crop looks excellent and probably better than the field sown with the combi after autumn ploughing. I am thinking the Sim Tech will be the best machine for what I need so long as I firm any Trio'd land with rolls or a front press. The other option would be a sabre tine type machine that would travel faster, avoid the pressing and cost less but my worry is seed depth and soil coverage. Farm cropping is cereals, Beans, cover crops and OSR. Any advice would be appreciated

I have a similar size farm to you and am 1/3 grass and 2/3 cropping. I grow 1/2 of the cropping area as a winter cereal and 1/2 as a spring break crop. I do also have 1 field as a low input spring crop and also 1 field as a Landsberger mix for silage out of te arable area. I used to use a Simtech when I first converted but have changed to a disc drill. I spread muck ahead of the spring crop and would happily use the Simtech to drill through it. ( Not int he wet!) i'm sure your farm is suitable, but you may need to tweak things. On the face of it I would drop the maize if I was in your position and look at the rotation. My 2p worth!
