Can anyone recommend a good quality waterproof bib?
saw this one at Kiwifit but seems expensive at £135+ vat

Worth every penny IME. They are a league above anything else either ever had, both for warmth and for standing up to ‘farmers use’.
As posted above though, Fane Valley have them a good bit cheaper now, so presumably Kiwikit haven’t got exclusive rights to them any more.

Betacraft are pretty similar but cheaper. Have a pair but haven't tried them yet.
Seems to be a few folks selling them now, can't see the price dropping much more but the B&B is definitely worth £100

Betacraft are made from the materials that kaiwaka used to use. Similar but definitely not the same. That's why they are cheaper

Got a Fortress from Amazon here,like flexothane but less than £17. Obviously not in the same league as kaiwaka but I won't be sobbing over my tea if it gets ripped

Are you sure?. My first kaiwaka stuff was awesome. My second set was just ok and my beta craft bib is crap.
I wouldn't put betacraft in the same league as the original kaiwaka.

Ime if’s near impossible to rip the Kaiwaka bib & brace.
In 4 years i’ve Only managed to put a couple of small holes in the knee, being dragged over a track on my knees by an errant sheep. I got a patch of material from Kiwikit (FOC), glued it on, and it’s been waterproof for the last 2 years.
It’s too warm to wear in the summer though, so I have a pair of Origini leggings (again from Kiwikit). They are the same ‘breathable’ material as Flexothane, but much stronger and welded seems. £48 a pair, but last me 3 or 4 times as long as normal Flexothane ‘classics’.

Fortress. I had the jacket and trousers a while back... I liked them but the trousers didn't like being worn every day and perished after a few months (no better/worse than Flexithane going at the crotch). The jacket, however, lasted a good few years and I really liked it - but I only wore it in very heavy rain. Might get another jacket, thinking about it.

The fortress jacket is great value. Cheap as chips from Aps. And nice and warm. When they do start to die, it gets flung in the dogs kennel to keep the huntaway toasty !

Better zips than flexothane and fleece lined for about thirty quid. I know it's not kaiwaka standard but it's still a bargain compared to when a Barbour was the best you could get
