Good machine with a guttler packer they do a very good job cheap to run points can be a pain ,discs can be adjusted easily as long as slides are kept working

Early machine been here for a couple of years. 155hp pulls it up to 12kmh on sandy loam soils 6 to 8” deep with the discs only really levelling at 2 to 3”. Guttler packer runs semi clean but mostly has damp sand stuck to it unless very dry. Points are cheap but you have to keep the tabs on the legs built up with the welder to stop them falling off. Only real downside for me is it leaves a small 3” gutter size trough on the near side which isn’t ideal for the drill. Other than that it is a one pass machine for me. Only used this autumn to lift compacted headlands.

Have a 1st gen one here since new, no issues, as above the points can be a fiddle if the tabs wear down but build up with weld. I have replaced one rear Guttler packer bearing but nothing else bar points/shins. I wish they had fitted grease points on the vertical towers that the disc assem slides up or down in.
Pull it with 165hp and fairly zooms along and I work in lands (GPS) so the 3" trough mentioned is minimized.
A good cheap to run effective machine

I have an early one (2013) 4m folding Put about 800ha through it each year, mainly in front of a vaddy drill. Works well as a one pass machine in front of drill. Needs about 220hp on it to get a decent speed at 6" deep.

However one downside is it continously blows one of the four Guttler bearings at the back. I have no idea why, we have tried all sorts of different bearings, all to no avail. Each shaft is straight and we have tried greasing and not greasing them. Nothing makes a difference. Anyone any idea ?

Odd one that one, my bearing packed up due to lack of greasing. The bearing is not under any horizontal load at all is it? After all it is just a basic plummer block style bearing and the only time I have known them to fail is lack of grease, dust shields buggered through baler twine or wire and being under a horizontal or fore/aft load against them.
I dare say there is no reason why you couldnt put a larger bearing in it's place but then it should be fine being 2m each section (I assume it's a folding one?) compared to 3m on our mounted one.

Wach out for cracked headstock on the MK1 version, neighbours started to break up a few yrs ago.Weavings took it back and sorted it.
Yeah this one has been welded up in a couple of areas and beefed up in one or 2 other areas. Overall though I think it looked a good machine and subject to price will buy it.
