Weed ID please

Looks like buckwheat to me also. I posted the same stuff about a year ago which a neighbour had been busy pulling out a big patch of it where pheasant cover had been grown previously. He thought it was jap knotweed.

I also worried it was Japanese Knotweed for a moment, but it doesn't look tough enough. Buckwheat is pretty harmless isn't it - not frost hardy from memory. It seems to have come in with some seed I've planted, as it's in a part-field and has only come up within one crop. I won't worry too much about it then.

Japanese Knotweed would be huge at this time of the year - 5ft plus and not really in flower yet. The flowers are a bit like a very loose buddleia, foot long little tiny whitish flowers, growing horizontally. It was brought here for its late flowers!
