Okay just looking at welding electrodes online, I see you can get mma and also arc electrodes, apart from mma ones being dearer, what’s the difference?

I never really bother looking at the spec of the rods other than the diameter.

That’s because supercito are a low hydrogen 7018 rod and the overcord are just your standard 6013 general purpose rod

Not used the Phoenix ones but use Bolher rods all the time, get em for 15 quid a box !.

It’s bolher I have. My biggest bother is they don’t always get left somewhere warm and dry!

very true,they do go off if damp and not used quick enough... mrs gets a bit funny when i put mine in the airing cupboard ...dam good place for them tho.

Think Bohler are OK for general sticking junk together, but Phoenix Blau weld a lot nicer, more like the old Murex or ESAB (which imho are the best, but hellish dear now) used to be.

I see you can get different types of bohler 6013, Phoenix Blau being the dearest , you any idea the differences in their rods?

The ones I am using at the moment are Bohler Phoenix 6013. They are fine enough, but dont just run or drop the slag as nicely as the old Phoenix Blau in the pink box, which are I believe a superior rod.

yes i use Bolher now, best rods ever used.

If you can get them try Hilco velvetta. Imo they are even nicer to use

7018 and 6010 for general welding 6013 for thin non structural stuff 7024 for proper thick stuff
