i understand that BUT ultimately if it wasn’t for the back door supermarket systematic take over / race to the bottom over the last 30 year farmers wouldn’t even need government support

big retail is where the ultimate blame sits for fundamental lack of economic viability of uk food production imo despite all the smaller picture sideshows

No. As @Bald Rick posted, this argument is with Welsh Govt policy, NOT supermarkets/NFU/RT/GFC, however much you would like it to be.

Good on the lads & lasses out today, they did a superb job. A show of force ahead of the ministers’ meeting with our representatives, while only inconveniencing the public just enough to make the point.
They could just as easily have pulled across to block both carriageways, causing an awful lot more strife but they chose not to and, importantly, everyone knows that.

Superb job imo.👍

Your all going on about no farmers no food and the likes,
Why not just stop the food chain nationally for a day,
This slow moving protest in Wales won't hold water, it will annoy the general public going about its daily duties, but have naff all effect on getting the message over,
Just close down all the supermarkets for a day, or even a few hours, stop the shoppers getting in, with placards say when farmers are gone there will be no food,
It needs to be national and hard hitting for a short time, enough to state we have had enough, not a soft touch of a slow ride out,
Needs to be a short sharp shock, not perlonged over days n weeks, hit the big 4 supermarkets on same day, all that is needed is to block the entrance, a few loads of crap tipped, no fires as there is often fuel stations close by, just gather up all your shite in trailers, nip in at a set time, tip it off and return home,
Needs to be foul smelling, but also big bits a concrete or scrap etc, so it cannot be driven through,
Yes it will inconvenience some of public, but only a short time, and no one is late for any appointments, it would make the news, local around the country if not national,
Hitting Regional distribution centres won't have same effect as that's just hitting supermarkets, you need the public attention,

It need one standard message, on the likes of,
Cut the red tape, and let us get on doing what we do best, producing food,
With statistics on the lines of, local food produces less carbon foot print,

Don't mention air miles and planes, as most of public fly,
Don't knock supermarkets or any other business, but promote your own,
Knocking other business is really bad for business

I like the thought, and if you see my post im all for protest BUT
If we block the Supermarkets, whos land are we on, public or private (police) and as some would say to me, we musnt upset the public who may have traveled miles to go there
Cut the food supply for a day---- MILK down the drain for some (EA)

Ive said this with a slight tounge in cheek, because this is what i meet (NFU could pay for a days milk down the drain, JUST) but not the EA

Just disrupt, and if a tractor parade doesnt work Move on and up, English should support the true British (the welsh). if were all at it ,,, strength in numbers!!!!

This is with WG I agree. However RT want the same type of thing of farmers as well which the NFU support.

I suggest the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. They should be condemning the WG proposals AND the GFC

Apparently there's a massive tractor protest convoy currently making its way along the A48 in South Wales, towards the M4. I only know because a friend has been stuck in traffic for an hour now on her way to a hospital appointment which she's waited a year for, and now will miss. Is this really the way to make friends and influence people?
Few thoughts:
• if you’re not top of the news headlines don’t bother
• don’t copy others, do your own thing
• there’s bound to be disruption, and the public should turn their ire on the politicians, but the question is why in Carmarthen not Cardiff? If the answer to that is that you won’t get tractors down the M4 then the priorities may be slightly awry.
• if you want an impact make enough noise outside the Senedd during FM Questions that you can be heard within. You don’t need to break anything or dump sh!t.

But then again, the easiest thing out is to criticise from the sidelines and not get involved. Our tractor hasn’t even got flashers…

I think the farmers made a very good point yesterday. A shot across the boughs maybe.

I think quite a few people have been finding Welsh Govt only representing everyone through the climate change prism lately
