West dual spreader

Hi

I have a west 1600 which is leaving a line of slurry when I’m spreading. Could anyone tell me what their distance is between the rotor and the pan underneath and wether thiscan be adjusted.
Thanks

@GB1 Do yourself a huge favour and swap the West for a Shelbourne Reynolds Powerspread.

The rotor turns the opposite way from the West throwing the dung over the top rather than underneath giving a much better spread pattern.

Failing that then as others have suggested close the bottom tray up closer to the rotor tips.

Don’t buy an older Shelbourne Dairy 1600/2000.

Very disappointed with ours, very poor on non watery slurry.

Its that bad that I hire a West 2000 from a local contractor and it makes a fantastic job.

Under tray under rotor section and to rectify I believe either the springs have lost their tension or the bolt stops need adjusting
Hi thanks for that. That’s ideal. 3-4mm seems very close but ours is more like 75mm so that’s probably the problem. I think I will look into the springs as well. Thanks.

Looked at a Sherborne when we bought the west but thought the west was better built.

We have a west 1600, not looked at a shelbourne in detail but west seems very simple , nothing majorly that can go wrong and if it does it’s mostly down to foreign objects in the muck

Hi - sorry to hijack the thread; could anybody tell me if a horizontally opening slurry door is significantly worse than a vertically opening door, when it comes to spreading slurry? (seen a Kverneland spreader for sale - not that I ever knew they made them - and wondering if it could do a job). thanks for any help
