Sheep went into one of those IRG/Festulolium paddocks tonight. Grazed bare 2 weeks ago. It’s a pity it’s so thin and only 5 ac of it just now.

Which Festulolium & at what seed rate?
It was LOFA @neilo
Italian variety was Gemini
Lofa all going mental around here but its not dying. Hardy stuff. Gemini is a beast too.
I put some Lofa in the middle of may on off ground with red clover from @Great In Grass and walked it on Friday and it's simply looking fantastic as it's 8-10 inches high and flyingLofa all going mental around here but its not dying. Hardy stuff. Gemini is a beast too.
I’ll openly admit I’ve relied too much recently on ryegrass and guess I get away with it in wetter years but looks like I will have to try festoliums from now on in any medium to longer term mixes I drill.
@ollie989898 What would something like LOFA yield like as part of a 4x cutting regime? What about it’s Quality?
Similar to ours which were overseeded in spring with lofa, Perseus a couple of years before, grazed till mid May hay crop end of June following 66kg/a.c. nitram only thing showing now is the festulolium and cocksfoot with clover sitting in bottom waiting for that illusive rain. Left 7 acres of thinner crop uncut and turnedc200 weaners into it a fortnight ago, they haven't checked and save for the usual bottom end are looking great. Separated out 90 ewe lambs this am to go into hills on a crappy 12 acres I have till end of September. That said not had sheep on for 2 years and is very green. Will be interesting to compare the two groups in a month.Pictured 10th July in Pembrokeshire Lofa and white clover on the right, PRG on the left.

This year our lambs have taken to stemmy, beggars etc. There was talk of them not lasting past 3 years, so I won’t be going overboard on them. It’s quite steamy, like IRG, in this drought, but that’s better than nothing.
Lofa will do 5 years, you need to choose the variety to suit the aplication. There was talk of them not lasting past 3 years, so I won’t be going overboard on them. It’s quite steamy, like IRG, in this drought, but that’s better than nothing.
Huge roots!I found these photos from a couple of years ago, Festulolium on the left in the first image and on the right in the second.
