Aunt and Uncle were on holiday in Scotland and driving round for the day and the Daily Express had a competition to win a 205 1.9 GTI, their card matched the numbers printed in the paper, had to be claimed by 3pm so the race was on to find a phone box in the next 20 minutes to claim the prize, when he got it a chap from the VW garage to it away and they got a brand new Polo and the trade in for theirs and the balance.

Mind you if anyone won multi millions on the lottery do you think they would still be talking to us plebs.

Well of course I will.... just a touch of the forelock would be nice when I address said plebs mind.... ;)

Had a fun supper with the family a few years ago when Gladmans were expressing a lot of interest in some housing land...

Daughter Numero Uno expressed a lot of dismay about the loss of a substantial area of land until I explained IF we were fortunate enough to get said land away for housing, then the loss of the land available for shooting was going to be small beer indeed.

I suggested that there would be enough to buy a shooting estate in Dorset/Devon AND a nice bit of land on the Scottish Borders, (this side!) and keep the home farm :ROFLMAO: I got the nod from her then...... especially when I said she could take the shooting season off....

Great fantasy evening... We are still here, peasant farming!!

I won a big Smeg fridge. Only thing it was pink, as the draw was for breast cancer charity, with all the prizes being pink and electrical, as donated by a local electrical shop. I actually had won a small pink TV, but when I went to the prize giving ( pic in local paper), a little old lady that lived in a flat, had actually won the fridge. She was upset as had no room for it, so we swapped prizes😂

In 1993 we bought a second hand car and won a £1000 holiday voucher which paid half of a holiday to Florida.
Race night £90.
My son won a corporate package for 2 at Sunderland ( when they were Premier League). 5 course meal and we could have drunk ourselves to a standstill but I had to drive and he was only 11 :banghead:

Multiple bottles, perfume, sports tops and a toilet mat in various raffles.
In a previous life was entertained in various hotels including Gleneagles, Turnberry, Old Course, Belfry, Nice, Stockholm and Antwerp. No such thing as a free lunch of course.
