Had a phone call in the 90s from Anglia windows, did I want to renew the warranty on the windows
You were lucky. I bought a house that was already fitted with Anglian Windows. When they were 9 years old, I received daily phone calls from Anglian telling me they needed to be replaced as they only had a life of 10 years.

I had an oil filter wrench delivered last week <£5. Tensioned up and snapped. Chinese and not worth the time to return it.
I’d love to know what the percentage is of the plastic Chinese shite that is shipped halfway across the world only t be immediately thrown in the bin by end user, or “recycled “ ie sent back to China to be turned back into more plastic shite. I know some of the kids Xmas presents in the past here have barely made it out of the box.

🤔they’re pretty clever really charge us for taking our waste plastic, turn it into crappy little toys/gadgets to sell back to us, then charge us to recycle it again and so on and so on.....

When someone’s working on a vehicle and you get random messages throughout the day like “needing bearings”, “bush gone” and “need 2 gaskets”. No part numbers or locations provided.

😡Wtf they expecting to happen?

just make a feckin list and I’ll see you next time I’m back in the yard.

So you do same as everyone else - bin it and buy another. And another. Or go for one made in Germany or USA and it does the job.

BUT - buy one that's already 50 years old and it does the job for the rest of your life. And your son's life too, except he'll lose it.

£16.99 per month for a year's service contract on the washing machine that was already out of warranty. Did me well, as it paid for a call-out plus new electronic module and new motor. Called them today to cancel it, as the year is up. They immediately offered to do it for £8.50 per month... Should've haggled with them a year ago.

You britains referring to the age of a tractor as a 56 plate or something like that. How am I as a humble foreigner supposed to make anything of that. It's like using fahrenheit for temperature to me.
They keep changing the system, but the current one started late 2001, with the 51 plate. Then 02, 52, 03, 53 etc - 50s, 60s and 70s for the latter part (Sept-Mar) of the year and 00s, 10s and 20s for the first (Mar-Sept) part.

Before then, it was letters - originally (1963 on) suffix and latterly (1984?) prefix. Unless you’re a bit special, use google for ageing those.
