I’ve managed about 50% of my Wheat, but no winter beans. Abandoned now as I’m all no til and it’s not going to dry. Winter crops only account for 50% of the farm here and as I’ve got less than half of them in I’m on for a busy spring!

I’ve managed about 50% of my Wheat,

And the last 25% of ours is about to fall victim to this :-

However, given the historic difficulties with spring cropping here, not to mention current adverse market forces, it'll be quite an easy spring here with 25% less top-work to do and 25% summer fallow.

No wheels been on land for over 4 weeks now. 100% still to drill (rape failed so need to be drilled again). Its even too wet to consider cutting hedges on the insides!
Same hear.only our rape looks patchy will wait while spring to see how much we keep.nothing else drilled and too wet to cut hedges. I’ve got the track marshall ready to go but it’s too wet for that

As of this evening we have now had exactly 300mm of rain since the 27th September. We have been so focused on finishing our potato harvest that we have drilled exactly nothing.
Some might find this a strange thing to say but i am quite pleased about this.
Looking at crops in the area....
The rape sown is a complete disaster (of my two nearest neighbours, one has only 2 surviving fields from 15 he started with, and the other has ripped up over 300 acres)
Winter wheat that has been drilled is best described as anything from patchy to waterlogged.
All cultivation work here including ploughing has ground to a halt again. We would normally be able to drill right up until the end of January without too much problem, but realistically I think we have no chance of going near most of our fields until the spring,

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
